Math: Ratios and applying them to real world situations

Science: We having been moving quick in science! This week we will be learning about heredity and biomes. We will have an adaptations test on Tuesday.


Social Studies: This week we are finishing up learning about the Civil War. Civil War Final Test on Friday.

Math: Starting Thursday, we are going to start some interesting and exciting math!  We will begin with Ratios and Equivalent Ratios.  Here is a great video for an introduction: Ratios

Reading: This week we will be finishing our books and starting our book projects. They will be due on Friday.

Science: This week we are continuing our unit on adaptations.  The students will explore different animal and plant adaptations. We will also be going over heredity and compelte/ Incomplete metamorphosis Study Jams There is a video for Plant Adaptations and Animal Adaptations.


Social Studies: We will be continuing the civil War. Next week we will review and have a cumulative test on the Civil war.

Spring Break and BEYOND!

Hey! I hope you have/had a wonderful, relaxing spring break!
During Spring Break: REVIEW!

Things you can do to review….

MATH:
ü  Review math journal
ü  Get online and work on THINK THRU MATH
ü  Review old math homework

READING:
ü  Read to someone (parent, sibling, dog, teddy bear) (listen to your words à summarize and make inferences)
ü  Do any passage in your blue book
ü  Look through your reading folder

Objectives for the week of March 20-24:

Math: We will continue our review for the Math STAAR test this week.  We will review input/output tables, dot plots, scatter plots, stem & leaf plot, geometry (polygons), and financial literacy.  

Reading: The students will finish their Historical fiction books this week. Their completed jobs are due on Monday, the 27th.  We have spelling and quizlet this week.

Science: This week we are covering invasive species and plant/animal adaptations. There are some great videos for review: Study Jams  Under the Plant tab: Roots & Stems, Flowers, Plants with Seeds.  Under the Animals tab: Animal Life Cycles
SMALL, EASY TEST ON FOOD CHAINS/FOOD WEBS ON TUESDAY the 21st

Social Studies: Civil War: Students will continue to learn the causes of the war, the differences between the Northern and Southern economies at that time, States' Rights, Slavery/Underground Railroad, and a couple of key battles of the war.

Math:  STAAR MATH REVIEW
STAAR Math will be March 28th. Every day we will be reviewing an objective we learned this year. We will be playing fun games, using task cards, and looking through our math journals to refresh our memory. You can help your child by having them get on THINK THRU MATH during the week. It is online and they have their usernames and password.

Reading: Book club-  historical fiction books (post-Revolutionary War)  
Review: Author's Purpose, summarization, and Main idea.
Quizlet and spelling this week.
