Social Studies: Finish War of 1812 and begin Industrial Revolution, especially how the technology developed during that era had a great impact (positive and negative) on the world's society.

Week of Jan. 25

*Wednesday is an early dismissal at 12:30pm.  Please make sure your child has a way to get home that afternoon.

Objectives:


Math: Frequency tables, bar graphs, and dot plots (4th grade objectives, but we include decimals and fractions with their data)  
Do you remember how to order and organize decimals and fractions? (Good place to review is your math journal!)    
A Maths Dictionary For Kids Look up these terms: Frequency Table, Bar Graph, Dot Plot.  
Next week: Stem and Leaf and Scatter Plots.

Reading: Book Club! YAYY!!  We have some awesome books picked out! 
-Character traits and development
-Observations and create inferences with their characters
Spelling Test and Vocabulary list on Quizlet: Quizlet Week of January 25 ON FRIDAY!

Objectives for the week:
Math: This week we are continuing with our Algebraic skills. Students will learn how to solve for a variable with multiplication and division equations. We will also cover input/output functions where students will identify a Rule or Function based on either additive or multiplicative patterns. Students will then create linear graphs based on those rules they identify.

Reading: This week we are finishing our unit on Fairy Tales. The students are working on understanding elements of fairy tales, fables, folk tales, legends, and myths as they read stories from around the world and analyze their content. This week we are starting something new for Vocabulary. We will focus more on content vocabulary by incorporating important words from different subjects. The students will go to this link on Quizlet: Vocabulary Week 1 Students can create a login for Quizlet so they can keep track of their progress as they complete different activities to help practice for the test on Friday. We also have a spelling test on Friday.
Science: This week we are covering properties of soil including different layers of soil and what different types of soil look like.

Social Studies:This week we are beginning our unit on Westward Expansion. Students will explore the reasons why people moved west in our country and how we accumulated different territories.

Happy New Year my wonderful kiddos! Thank you so much for all the wonderful and thoughtful presents I receive. It was so kind of y’all! I hope you all enjoyed your time with friends and family are now recharged for a new semester!

This week’s Social Studies newspaper is the review for the test
