*Tuesday: Math STAAR
*Wednesday: Reading STAAR
Please make sure your child gets a good night's sleep and a big breakfast those days!  If you have any questions, please let me know.

*Report Cards are going home this Tuesday.

Math: Starting Thursday, we are going to start some interesting and exciting math!  We will begin with Ratios and Equivalent Ratios.  Here is a great video for an introduction: Ratios

Reading: Starting Thursday, we will begin a new independent book study.  Students will get to choose their own book (one they haven't read and with my approval), and complete an independent book study with it.  There are NO spelling or Vocab lists this week.  They will both begin again in April.

Science: This week we will continue our study on animals, plants, and biomes: Tundra, Deciduous Forest, Tropical Rain Forest, Desert, Grassland, and Taiga.

Social Studies: We will continue our study on the Reconstruction Era. (Transcontinental Railroad)

*March 29th, 30th are Math and Reading STAAR.  Please make sure your children are at school on time both of those days.

Math: REVIEW FOR STAAR test.  We will review: input/output tables and linear graphs, types of graphs (dot plots, stem and leaf, scatter, bar), geometry, and financial literacy


Reading: This week we are reviewing for the Reading STAAR test as we review some comprehension strategies, inferences, figurative language, text structure, summaries, and main ideas.  There is NO spelling or Vocab for the week.

Science: This week we are continuing our unit on adaptations.  The students will explore different animal and plant adaptations. Study Jams There is a video for Plant Adaptations and Animal Adaptations.

Social Studies:  Reconstruction era and how the U.S. tried to come together again after the Civil War

*March 14-18 is Spring Break!

*Lion King Auditions are this week Tuesday and Thursday after school!

*March 29th and 30th we have the Math and Reading STAAR tests.

Math: We will continue our review for the Math STAAR test this week.  We will review adding/subtracting/multiplying/dividing fractions, measurement conversions (customary and metric), prime and composite numbers, and fraction to decimal relationships.

Reading: The students will finish their Historical fiction books this week.  Their bookmarks are due on Friday, the 11th.  We have spelling and Vocab this week.  The link for Vocab is here: Vocab March 7th 

Science: This week we are covering plant and animal life cycles.  There are some great videos for review: Study Jams Under the Plant tab: Roots & Stems, Flowers, Plants with Seeds.  Under the Animals tab: Animal Life Cycles

Social Studies: We are wrapping up our unit on the Civil War and will have a final unit test this Friday!  Students need to know the causes of the war, the differences between the Northern and Southern economies at that time, States' Rights, Slavery/Underground Railroad, and a couple of key battles of the war.
