Feb. 30- Jan. 3

*Wednesday we will have a Math Benchmark, Thursday we will have a Reading Benchmark and Friday we will have a Science Benchmark to assess the progress of the students. Please help your child review their journals to help refresh their memory of objectives learned earlier in the year.

HALF DAY ON WEDNESDAY the 25th

EXHIBITION: On Monday, students will start creating the products every afternoon. We will have art mentors to guide them, but your child will be responsible for all materials needed. Please keep this in mind when doing your shopping!

Math:  Stem and Leaf Plots, Frequency tables, bar graphs, and dot plots (4th grade objectives, but we include decimals and fractions with their data)  
Do you remember how to order and organize decimals and fractions? (Good place to review is your math journal!)    
A Maths Dictionary For Kids Look up these terms: Frequency Table, Bar Graph, Dot Plot.  
GO MATH 15.4, 16.1-16.4

Reading: We are starting book clubs FINALLY!! YAYY!!! J We will be focusing on character traits and how characters change throughout the book. Many of the groups have picked some of my favorite books, so I am super excited!!
Spelling Test and Quizlet on Friday

Science:  Earth Science (WED, Rock Cycle, Weather/Climate/Soil/Landforms/Water Cycle) - Test on Friday
Students have all the notes they need in their science journal and we will review throughout the week

NO SCHOOL ON MONDAY,16th.

EXHIBITION: We will be starting our art rotations on Tuesday. The art rotations are to help your child decide what form of art they want to create for their Exhibition product. Starting the week of the 23rd, students will start creating the products every afternoon. We will have art mentors to guide them, but your child will be responsible for all materials needed. Math: Equations: Adding, subtracting, dividing, multiplying
Go Math 8.1-8.4
Friday we will also cover input/output functions where students will identify a Rule or Function based on either additive or multiplicative patterns. Students will then create linear graphs based on those rules they identify.

Reading: Fantasy Unit (Fairytales, Fables, Myths) We will be learning about fairytales from around the world and how different cultures portray the same fairytales we have grown up with differently. They will create a passport book summarizing the different fairytales they read.
Spelling Test and Quizlet on Friday the 13th (next week).

Science:  Earth Science

Happy New Year my wonderful kiddos! Thank you so much for all the amazing and thoughtful presents I received. It was so kind of y’all! I hope you all enjoyed your time with friends and family are now recharged for a new semester! We are starting this New Year with a bang. We have lots to learn, and I cannot wait to teach it all to you!

Objectives:

Math: Area, Perimeter, and Volume.  Here are a couple of videos on how to calculate volume: Volume as Base Area times Height 
Wednesday: Area of triangles and parallelograms
Thursday: Review for Test
Friday: Test on Area and Volume of 2D Shapes
