Science: We are beginning our unit on Matter and its properties.  We will focus on what matter is, what it isn't, the main states of matter, and changes in states of matter.  Here are some great videos to review for Matter.  
Studyjams You will see scrolling topics under science.  Find the one on Matter.  The three videos I suggest are: Properties of Matter, Solids Liquids Gases, and Physical and Chemical Changes in Matter.

Social Studies: We are continuing our unit on Early Explorers and also covering essential map skills, which despite technological advances, really come in good use! Our explorer/colonist essay will be due on Thursday. Be as creative in your final project as possible! This is our first display project!

September 4-7


WHAT AN AWESOME FIRST WEEK! I truly enjoyed my first week with you all. It was so nice to get to know you and learn new things about you. I already know it is going to be a great year.

Welcome to fifth grade!


Welcome to fifth grade! I am so excited to have you in my class. It was wonderful to meet you yesterday.

Here is some additional information about our class:
School starts promptly at 7:30 and ends at 2:50.
Ancillary: 8:35-9:25
Lunch: 12:18-12:45 (Parents may join students at lunch starting September 17th)

Rainy Day Dismissal: During times of inclement weather, Parent Walk-Up students are dismissed from inside the building in designated locations.
Parents can enter the building from the following doors:
·         Red doors facing Greenbriar near flag pole
·         Doors near the covered basketball court
Parents may not enter via front doors on School Street.

    It’s the final countdown! This week will be all about preparing for the Social Studies final exam and Exhibition night!

      • We ask that students arrive at 6:15pm and report to our classroom for set up instructions

    THANK YOU SO MUCH for all the super sweet presents and cards. I felt extremely appreciated all week. I appreciate the kind gestures and all the sweet words! It makes me sad to know we are so close to the end of the year!!

    Monday and Tuesday we continue our science cumulative review leading to our science STAAR on Wednesday. (More) Science Review Terms, science notebooks, textbooks, and previously linked videos are excellent study resources. The most important thing is a good night’s sleep, and a healthy breakfast in the morning!

    Social Studies: This week we will continue to review for our end of year Social Studies test. Here is a link to some very important terms. Social Studies Review, notebook notes, newspapers, and review materials from last week and this week in the S.S. folder are great resources for studying.
